Treatment specifications
SURTEC 650 passivation is a chemical conversion process for aluminum and its alloys, aimed at creating a protective layer that enhances the base material’s corrosion resistance.
Unlike natural and hard anodizing coatings, SURTEC 650 passivation preserves the metal’s electrical conductivity, making this treatment essential in various strategic industries such as military, electronics, and automotive.
The resulting layer is colorless and extremely thin, meaning that mechanical components must be manufactured within their final tolerances beforehand.
Thanks to its excellent adhesion properties, SURTEC 650 passivation is also highly sought after as a pre-treatment for subsequent resin or paint coatings.
In 2025, Mochem Industrie Srl obtained Leonardo SDI qualification for the SURTEC 650 passivation treatment according to the OTO-RS4 standard.
With its extensive experience in surface treatments and masking solutions, Mochem Industrie offers expert consulting services and the ability to perform multiple treatments on the same component.
In fact, to combine the benefits of anodizing (increased corrosion and wear resistance) with those of SURTEC 650 passivation (preservation of electrical conductivity), it is often necessary to apply different treatments to the same part.
Additionally, it is important to note that the SURTEC 650 passivation treatment is Chromium VI-free.
